Firmware updates improve performance, fix bugs, and occasionally add new features. You'll find updates in the Subtle app next to your firmware version.
Before you start
- Voicebuds connected to the app, with both buds well charged — the update refuses to start below a minimum charge, and the app will tell you the exact percentage if you're under it
- A stable internet connection (the update downloads first)
- Keep the Subtle app open for the duration
Steps
- Open Voicebuds settings
and scroll to About.
- If an update is ready, an Update Available button appears beside the firmware version. Tap it.
- The update downloads, then shows Ready to Install — start the install.
- Installing shows a progress ring. Keep the app open and your Voicebuds nearby.
- A short Wrapping Up step follows while your Voicebuds restart and reconnect — don't close the case lid during this part.
- When it finishes, the firmware row shows Up To Date with your new version.
What to expect
- The whole process takes a few minutes on a good connection.
- Your Voicebuds briefly disconnect and reconnect at the end — that's the restart.
- Dictation and recording are unavailable while the update runs.
- Battery Too Low? Charge both Voicebuds to the percentage shown, then try again — the update won't risk a half-charged install.
