Subtle's limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. Here's what's covered, what isn't, and how to request service.
What the warranty covers
- Duration: 12 months from the original date of purchase (proof of purchase required)
- Coverage: Defects in materials or workmanship that arise under normal use
- Remedy: Subtle will repair or replace with a new or refurbished unit. If repair/replacement is not reasonable, Subtle may refund the purchase price.
What the warranty does NOT cover
- Consumables: Ear tips — these are wear items and degrade with normal use
- Software and firmware: The app, firmware, and system software are not covered (bugs should be reported to support)
- Accidental damage: Drops, liquid damage (beyond IPX4 rating), or physical misuse
- Wear and tear: Scratches, dents, or cosmetic damage from normal use
- Unauthorised modification: Damage from third-party repairs or modifications
- Out-of-region use: Using Voicebuds in a region where they're not supported
- Data recovery: Loss of notes, transcripts, or other data
Within 30 days vs. after 30 days
- Within 30 days of delivery: A defective unit can be returned under the standard 30-day return policy for a full refund. See Returns: 30-day policy, RMA process, and refund timing.
- After 30 days but within 12 months: Use the warranty claim process below.
How to make a warranty claim
- Email support@subtle.co with "Warranty claim" in the subject line.
- Include:
- Proof of purchase (order confirmation or receipt)
- Clear description of the defect and how it developed
- Troubleshooting steps you've already tried
- Screenshot of Earbud settings showing model number and firmware version
- Photos or video clearly showing the defect
- If your claim is approved, we'll issue an RMA and provide return shipping instructions.
- Ship the defective product in protective packaging. Include the RMA number on the outside of the box.
- Subtle covers the cost of shipping repaired or replacement product back to you.
Returns without RMA
Products returned without an RMA number, without valid warranty coverage, or without adequate packaging may be returned to you at your cost or disposed of. Always contact us before shipping anything.
