You have the right to request a copy of your personal data and to delete your Subtle account. Here's how both work.
Export your data
Data export is handled by request:
- Email contact@subtle.co with "Privacy Request" in the subject line, from your account email.
- Ask for a copy of your personal data.
- Where technically feasible, Subtle provides it in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
Export before deleting — once deletion becomes permanent, your notes and chat history are gone.
Delete your account
- In the Subtle app, open your Profile and tap Delete Your Account.
- Read the confirmation screen, type DELETE to confirm, and tap Delete Account.
Two things will block the button: you can't delete while offline, and you can't delete while a recording is in progress — stop it first.
The 30-day window
Deleting schedules your account and all of its data for deletion:
- For 30 days, you can restore your account — with everything intact — by resetting your password (use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen).
- After 30 days, your account and its data are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
- Your membership is not restored even if you restore the account within the window — memberships are per device and end with deletion, with no prorated refund. If what you actually want is to change your email or credentials, contact support instead of deleting.
What happens after deletion becomes permanent
- Subtle deletes your personal information from active databases within 30 days of the deletion taking effect.
- Subtle also requests deletion from its service providers, including AI processing providers.
- Some data cannot be deleted — including information that has been anonymised or aggregated (it can no longer be linked back to you), data incorporated into trained AI models (at an anonymous level), and data Subtle is legally required to retain.
Your Voicebuds afterward
They keep working as standard earbuds without an account, but AI and dictation features need a Subtle account and membership.
