Chats you delete are held in a "Recently Deleted" area for a limited time before being permanently removed. Here's how to restore one.
Steps
- Go to Account → Recently Deleted Chats.
- Find the chat you want to restore.
- Tap to open it, then tap the overflow menu (⋯).
- Select Restore chat.
- You'll see a confirmation — the chat reappears in your Home feed.
Time limit
Deleted items are only kept in Recently Deleted for a limited period. Once expired, they cannot be recovered — there is no further backup. If you need to recover a chat urgently, do it as soon as possible after accidental deletion.
Notes vs. chats
Currently, the restore feature applies to chats. For notes, check Account settings for any similar recovery option — if it's not available, accidentally deleted notes may not be recoverable after the retention window.
Prevent accidental deletion
The delete action in Subtle always prompts for confirmation before proceeding. If you find yourself accidentally deleting content, slow down at that confirmation step — it's your last chance to cancel.
