If your firmware update stalls on "Installing" or fails to complete, here's how to recover safely.
Wait before intervening
First, wait at least 3–4 minutes without closing the app or moving the phone away from the case. Firmware transfers can appear frozen while data is still being written.
If it's genuinely stuck
- Check battery: Open Earbud settings and confirm both earbuds and the case have adequate charge. Low battery during a firmware update is the most common cause of failure. Charge for 15 minutes and retry.
- Stay close: Keep your iPhone within 30 cm of the open case throughout the update.
- Retry once: Go to Earbud settings, tap Disconnect, then reconnect and attempt the update again.
- Forget and re-pair: If the retry fails, use Forget this device in Earbud settings, re-pair from scratch, and check for the firmware update again.
Don't retry repeatedly
Attempting a firmware update many times in quick succession without resolving the underlying issue can leave Voicebuds in an inconsistent state. If two retries fail, stop and contact support before trying again.
