Voicebuds come with Bluetooth multipoint support, which allows them to connect simultaneously to two devices at once — letting you switch seamlessly between your iPhone and Mac.
How multi-device works
Bluetooth multipoint keeps Voicebuds paired to your iPhone and Mac at the same time. Both devices run the full Subtle app, so dictation, notes, AI chat, and earbud controls are available on either platform without re-pairing between sessions.
When you start using Subtle on one device, Voicebuds automatically route to it. Your notes and chats sync across devices via your Subtle account.
Switching between devices
You don't need to disconnect or re-pair to switch. Voicebuds handle it automatically:
- Open the Subtle app on the device you want to use.
- Voicebuds will connect within a few seconds.
- Dictation and audio will route to the newly active device.
If Voicebuds don't switch automatically, open Earbud settings on your preferred device and tap Connect.
Known limitations
- Voicebuds can be actively connected to two devices at a time. Connecting to a third device will drop one existing connection.
- If a Mac app (such as a video editor or DAW) has Voicebuds selected as its audio output, it may hold the audio session open even when idle. Switch that app's output to another device before routing audio from your iPhone.
- Phone calls on your iPhone temporarily take priority over Mac audio. Routing returns to normal when the call ends.
FAQ
Do I need to pair on Mac and iPhone separately?
Yes — pair once on each device. After that, both reconnect automatically.
What if Voicebuds connect to the wrong device?
Open the Subtle app on your preferred device. It will pull the active connection within a few seconds.
Can I use Voicebuds with Windows or Android?
Voicebuds work as standard Bluetooth earbuds on any device, but Subtle app features (dictation, notes, AI chat) require iOS or macOS.
