Voice notes are one of the core Voicebuds features — on the home page of the app, tap the mic, say what's on your mind, and Subtle transcribes and saves it automatically.
Steps
- In the Subtle app, you'll see the Try taking your first note prompt during onboarding, or tap the mic icon from Home at any time.
- Tap the mic button to begin recording. You'll see a waveform and "Jotting down your thoughts…"
- Speak naturally. Pause briefly between thoughts if you want cleaner paragraph breaks.
- Tap Stop when finished.
- Subtle transcribes your note — you'll see it appear in your Home feed, grouped under Today.
What to expect
- Transcription takes a moment, especially on a slower connection. A processing indicator may appear.
- The transcript may contain errors — review it before sharing or acting on it. Subtle's transcription accuracy depends on your audio environment and speaking clarity.
Adding to a note later
Open any note from Home and tap the mic to append more content. Subtle merges new transcription into the existing note.
Troubleshooting
- If the note doesn't appear after recording, check your connection and reopen the app — it may still be processing.
- If using without Voicebuds and the mic doesn't activate, confirm Microphone permission is enabled in iPhone Settings → Subtle.
