If you tapped "Don't Allow" when the Subtle app first requested Bluetooth access, pairing will fail until you grant the permission manually. Here's how to fix it.
Re-enable Bluetooth permission
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap Subtle in the app list.
- Under the permissions section, find Bluetooth and toggle it ON.
- Return to the Subtle app and retry pairing.
Why this happens
iOS requires each app to request Bluetooth permission the first time it needs to access Bluetooth devices. If you denied the request, iOS won't ask again automatically — you need to grant it manually in Settings.
Other permissions to check
While you're in Settings → Subtle, confirm these are also enabled:
- Microphone — required for dictation and voice notes
- Speech Recognition — required for the Subtle keyboard
Missing any of these will cause features to fail even if pairing succeeds.
